A landmark judgement has been handed down in the Supreme Court on 9 May 2013 in the case of SL v Westminster City Council
The decision clarifyies when duties are owed under section 21 of the National Assistance Act 1948 to those suffering from a mental disorder.
Westminster City Council succeeded unanimously in their appeal. The Council was represented by Sheetal Shah, a solicitor at Creighton and Partners, Tony Harrop Griffiths (junior council) and John Howell QC
